All Our Sisters

ALL OUR SISTERS 2011 National Forum, being hosted in London, Ontario from May 9 11, 2011, is the first national forum on housing and safe communities for women in Canada.

This Forum has been created in consultation with women of lived experience of homelessness and other experts from across Canada, and is being presented by and for service providers, policy makers, researchers, social activists, and women with lived experience and all of us who care about the issue of women and homelessness.

Just a few of the highlights of this Forum include:
– Four (4) engaging plenary presentations featuring women with lived experience of homelessness and diverse expertise
– Plenary address by BUFFY SAINTE-MARIE international performer and Womens Rights Advocate
– More than fifty (50+) breakout sessions focussed on a diverse variety of topics customize your program
– Presenters and delegates are coming from across Canada to participate connect with new colleagues
– Pre-Forum Workshop planned by and for women who are homeless or under-housed to explore how
– Community Based Participatory Research can support our action to end homelessness
– Access to unique resources and learning opportunities in Our Gathering Place A Resource Room
– Escape to Our Sisters Space – a comforting, soothing place to relax, reflect and escape the busyness of the Forum

Also unique is the design of our program content; we aim to move participants from listening and learning about the realities of homelessness from many perspectives, to considering and exploring successful programs, to engaging in strategies to move forward:

– Monday Unite Our Voices: Recognizing Realities and Barriers
– Tuesday Create Safety: Ensuring Security of Housing and Safe Communities
– Wednesday Be The Change: Moving Forward

Survey for Immigrants or Refugees

Are you an immigrant or refugee who lives in Ontario and came to Canada in the last six months to 10 years?

Are you interested in sharing your thoughts on the kinds of services that are available for newcomers to Canada?

If so, the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) needs you!

They are asking participants to complete a confidential online survey. It takes about 30 minutes to complete and can be read in 12 languages: English, French, Arabic, Chinese, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Tamil, Tagalog, Urdu.

Participants must be over the age of 18. Participants may choose to be entered into a draw for 1 of 10 prizes of $100.
