Listening to the Snake Lady

Listening to the Snake Lady

Every summer the London and Middlesex Housing Corporation runs a free daycamp for children of our tenants at our family sites in London.

The program consists of arts, crafts, sports, games, drama, special events and day trips, and is open for six weeks in July and August.

This summer the children enjoyed visits from the London Public Library Bookmobile, Mad Science, and London Fire Services.

We also visited Adventures on Wonderland, East Park and the splashpad at the Forks of the Thames, where the Snake Lady taught us about snakes, frogs, spiders and turtles.

Rookie Ball final game at Labatt Park

It was a beautiful summer morning on Wednesday, August 10 when “Buron” and “South Paws” played the final game of the 2011 Rookie Ball season at Labatt Park.

Every summer LMHC offers a baseball program for children eight to ten years old who live in our family communities. Officers from London Police Service coach our teams, and pitchers from London Majors Baseball pitch all our games.

After the game, everyone celebrated with pizza from Joe Kool’s restaurant, and thanked our other Rookie Ball sponsors: Stock Transportation (they drive the players to all their games), the Optimists, and Forest City Slow-Pitch.

Congratulations to the Buron team, who came in first place, and to all the players for their great effort and dedication during the summer!
